1. Surface Mounted Lights
Surface mounted lights are easy to install. You simply need to mark a line about 6 to 12 inches on both sides outside of the driveway line. The next step is to secure the devices one by one to the marked spots following the instructions provided by the manufacturer. 2. Flush Mounted Lights
Installing this type of light fixture makes the driveway look really nice. However, the units have to be installed properly and perfectly flush with the surface to look good. In addition, they can be driven upon without causing any damage to them. Surface mounted lights can be damaged upon impact so they need to be placed a bit farther from the edge of the driveway, but flush mounted types do not need such protection because they are designed to become part of the surface.
The downside to installing flush mounted fixtures is the difficulty in installation. They have to be installed while the concrete is still fresh, that is, unless you want to start boring holes on the ground. It is not an easy project for a typical DIY enthusiast, but with extra cash, you can have it fixed by professionals.
